God Is More Gentle With You Than You Are With Yourself

Perhaps the Lord is more gentle and gracious with you than you are with yourself. Sin against a holy God is no small thing. But what loving Father, when his child comes to him with a humble heart, asking for forgiveness, does not smile? And embrace the child and say, gently : “I do forgive you. Let’s move on now, to better things.”

There are consequences to sin, and sometimes the Lord, out of love, will discipline us. But we are never outside of our Fathers love. Disapproval of an action or state of heart is not the same thing as condemnation and being disgusted with.

You can think of your sin as a heavy thing and still believe God is kind with you. You are His child, and He wants you. Not matter what you’ve done. He is gracious and kind to His children.

From 1st John- “ My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins“

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.”

If we turn back to God, he will not cast us away in disgust, but draw us near in love. His purity covers our impurity. His truth covers our lies. His faithfulness covers our unfaithfulness. Christianity is not about how you are sufficient to save yourself. It is about someone else loving you despite your lack, and covering it with His grace.

Trusting with you,

Josh.
