What Is Christian Repentance? | Simple Words

There are Christian words that we hear often. If we are honest, though, we don’t really know their meaning, at least in full. If we slow down we may find that understanding the depth of simple words can be very impactful on our Christian life. It’s a bit like seeing the sun through a window with the shades drawn. You see parts of the light. But do you want to be blinded by the glory? Go pull the shade up. That’s what it is like to uncover the deeper meaning of a simple word.

What is Christian Repentance?

Charles Spurgeon writes:

Repentance is a discovery of the evil of sin, a mourning that we have committed it, a resolution to forsake it. It is, in fact, a change of mind of a very deep and practical character, which makes the man love what once he hated, and hate what once he loved.

We would do well to meditate on that. As it says in Acts 3:19:

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

Repenting daily,

Josh.
